The Young Couples Ministry held their kick-off meeting July 24th after the worship service. It was emphasized that this will be a fun, informal group, providing opportunities to study and discuss topics pertinent to their age group. The possible topics mentioned included the book “The Five Love Languages” by Gary Chapman. Regular meetings that will include discussion topics will not begin until the Fall, however the Library will be available after service during the summer months for hanging out as long as people wish. The meeting was attended by five couples (and 3 infants) with a show of support by Pastor Doug Marshall. All young couples are welcome!

SHARON PRAYER CHAIN – Prayer requests may be submitted to email@example.com.
As part of the efforts to “Spruce Up Sharon”, we’re planning on doing some painting in August. The main targets will be Fellowship Hall and the hallway by the office. Work will start on August 6, and continue for the next couple of weeks, or until the job is done.
We’ll need a lot of volunteers to make this happen. We will have supplies available so workers can stop by for a few hours during weekdays, evenings, Saturdays, or whatever fits your schedule. Just let us know when you can help so we can have adequate supplies available. Sign-up sheets will be available in the Narthex starting July 31, or you can contact the Property Committee.
Plan on grabbing a brush and doing your part to help us “Spruce Up Sharon”!
The Communications Committee has been hard at work on the video system for the Sanctuary. The equipment has been delivered! The new system will upgrade our recording capabilities to HD digital. We will have two remote cameras, two stationary cameras and a much more user friendly interface. This will provide greatly enhanced views of the service and particularly during Children’s Time, Choir singing and the social activity occurring in the Narthex before and after the service. Recordings of the services will be replayed after the live broadcast to complete the transmission from 9:30a.m. through 12:30p.m. Also, in the works is the option of having the video of the service viewable online and the sermons available by video/podcasting on the website for those who cannot do so via the cablecast or during the live services.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of August. Until then, we will continue to broadcast the video of the services as long as possible. Once the old cameras are removed we will begin broadcasting a slideshow on the screen with the live audio from the services during the cablecast viewing until the new cameras are installed. Also coming is a small TV monitor in the bride’s room for parents during the service.
A project is also in the works to upgrade the audio quality of the broadcast, as the video and audio systems are totally separate. Many thanks to Chris Cratsley, Tom Capkovic, Mark Killmeyer, Todd Carter and especially Garret Wiley for providing contacts at Root Sports who have donated their time, advice and equipment.
