Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God, and he who loves is born of God and knows God. – 1 John 4:7
Pray constantly. – 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Will you pray with us?
Holy God, Creator of all things, we thank you for the many parts that make up the Body of Christ in our congregation.
We praise You for those who lead, and for those who follow; for those who sit back and think deeply about spiritual things, and for those who devote their energies to the everyday workings of the church.
We bless You for those who participate in the ministries of Sharon Church: both those ministries that care for people within our church family, and those ministries that reach out beyond our walls.
We rejoice in the ways You provide for us, through inspiring generosity in giving of time, talent, and resources; and through the many conduits You use to send Your Word and Spirit into our lives.
We glorify You for the ways you renew our congregation through the addition of babies and children to our ranks, and for drawing new members to our Worship services.
We exalt You for holding so many of this church in year after year of steadfast love, even through difficult times in our personal and corporate histories.
Lord God, our Redeemer and our Creator, help us to remember how much love went into every detail of Your creation; how every person at Sharon Church was formed by Your loving hands. Remind us to marvel at the energy of the young, wiggling in the pews. Teach us to notice the opportunities we have to learn from the near-strangers who sit in the next row. Instruct our hearts to revere the wisdom imparted by those who offer. Show us, through the wonder of Your creation, how to delight in the One who created all things.
And God, even as You open our eyes to the great worth of those around us within this congregation, prepare us to take that joy out into the world: to those who struggle with fear, poverty, violence, or ignorance. Fill us with the strength, valor, and compassion to bring Your love into a world that does not know its Creator. Through Jesus Christ, whose Spirit lives within us, connecting us eternally with You, Amen.
This fall, the music at Sharon Church focuses on Christian Unity. We hope that the lyrics, soaring on some truly beautiful melodies, will bring your hearts closer to God and closer to each other. For God made us for each other, to be Christ’s hands in the world, to impart His love and peace to each other, just as we hope He will send it into our own lives.
