He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making all things new!” – Revelation 21:5
Our God is a Creating God. Notice the present tense in that sentence: God is a Creating God. Often the Creator is spoken of in the past tense: “God made the heavens and the earth.” However, scripture does not say that God’s work ended there. He took a day to rest, but He did not stop. We still see evidence of His creative nature in the budding of plants, in the breath of a newborn, in clouds that appear in the sky. We see it in the healing of a wound, as new cells grow; we see it in the changed life of someone who has previously been in the bonds of suffering. God can and does make all things new, every single day.
2018 marks the first year of the third century of Sharon Church’s ministry in this place. A new beginning, even after all this time. Have you considered what the Sharon Church of this next 100 years might become? Have you considered what your role will be in His plans? Perhaps God will lead you into a new ministry, a new understanding of your great worth to Him, or a new sense of purpose. All exciting prospects.
Of course, we encourage you to participate in the music ministry in the new year. Some of you have responded to previous invitations with confessions of being too busy, or too limited in other ways. Now, as we enter not only a new year, but a new century of this church’s history, it would be a good time to reconsider those limitations. Pray about them. Tell God your concerns, then listen to His answers. Is He calling you to a new or renewed participation? Mark and Treva are happy to speak with you and pray with you about it. Who knows - your inquiries might even spark new ideas in this area of ministry, and bless the whole community.
Whatever good work God has in store for you, we wish you a Happy New Year.
