The Young Couples group at Sharon Church meets after the 10AM Sunday morning service in the Church Library. It is an informal gathering where young couples have an opportunity to get to know each other and have a chance to discuss various subjects in a Christian atmosphere. And don’t let the title of the group keep you from checking us out. Due to busy lives, many of our folks regularly attend without their partner! Typically, we take time to socialize right after service until about 11:30 at which time we have a short ½ hour discussion on a book of the Bible or other inspirational books or articles. Recently we’ve been looking at the Gospel of John. In particular, we’ve looked at John’s telling of Jesus and the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well, a story only told in the gospel of John. So come join us, there’s no obligation!
Once again this spring, we’re encouraging all those with green thumbs, or those who simply like to dig in the dirt a bit to help add some color to the church grounds by Adopting a Flower Bed. We’ll supply the space and you supply the ideas and flowers, and maintain it until fall. This is a great opportunity for a family, organization, group of friends, Small Group or whatever to gather for some fellowship and beautify our Church grounds at the same time. A list of flower beds available for adoption will be posted in the Narthex, call the church office to arrange an adoption. First come, first served!*
*Note: If you have been taking care of an area in the past, just let us know and we’ll give you “first dibs.”
May 13, Saturday 8:00AM to 12:00
Spring is here! Along with the flowers and leaves on trees come some springtime chores around the church. Our church is just like your house - it needs to have a good sprucing up once in a while. Our annual Spring Cleanup Day will be Saturday May 13 from 8 to noon. We’ll have a long list of chores to keep us all busy. There is work in the Sanctuary, Fellowship Hall, the Education Building, and the Youth and Community Center. We will be cleaning window screens, windows and pews, vacuuming pew cushions, washing walls, and cleaning light fixtures. Although we will be concentrating on inside work, there may be some yard work if the weather is nice.
Donuts and juice will be provided. Please bring extra buckets, scrub brushes, cleaning rags and hand held vacuums if you have them. We will have a signup sheet in the Narthex, or you can call the church office.
Monday, May 15 – 9:00AM to 4:00PM
Additional volunteers are needed to help at the Food Pantry. The local Post Office Food Drive collected so much food last year we were overwhelmed! So, help is needed to unload food from trucks; date, sort, stack and move food; continually clean up the space.
You can come for any amount of time you can spare, 1 hour or the whole day! Every bit helps.
Please contact Sandy Hershberger or Rob Hamsher for additional information.
