The Communications Committee has been hard at work on the video system for the Sanctuary. The equipment has been delivered! The new system will upgrade our recording capabilities to HD digital. We will have two remote cameras, two stationary cameras and a much more user friendly interface. This will provide greatly enhanced views of the service and particularly during Children’s Time, Choir singing and the social activity occurring in the Narthex before and after the service. Recordings of the services will be replayed after the live broadcast to complete the transmission from 9:30a.m. through 12:30p.m. Also, in the works is the option of having the video of the service viewable online and the sermons available by video/podcasting on the website for those who cannot do so via the cablecast or during the live services.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of August. Until then, we will continue to broadcast the video of the services as long as possible. Once the old cameras are removed we will begin broadcasting a slideshow on the screen with the live audio from the services during the cablecast viewing until the new cameras are installed. Also coming is a small TV monitor in the bride’s room for parents during the service.
A project is also in the works to upgrade the audio quality of the broadcast, as the video and audio systems are totally separate. Many thanks to Chris Cratsley, Tom Capkovic, Mark Killmeyer, Todd Carter and especially Garret Wiley for providing contacts at Root Sports who have donated their time, advice and equipment.
